Take Control of Your Life – Five Essential Skills For Personal Leadership

Are you living life on your terms or someone else’s? If you were to die today, would you feel that you would have died with the best part of you still inside? How would it make you feel to know that you had never used the incredible gifts which you have always known that you possessed? If you are ready to put a stop to feelings of helplessness and frustration of living to build someone else’s dreams here are the steps which can set you on the right track today:

First, stop underestimating yourself. Think about this, you are putting forth all of this effort to do something which you may not even like for a living. What if you could begin to apply yourself to building a dream which you were excited about? Chances are that it would not take any more motivation or discipline than it takes to force yourself to do something you hate. This means you already have what it takes so let any doubts about that go.

Second, determine for yourself how much money your services are worth.

Instead of basing it on how much you are making, base it on what you truly require to build the life you desire. Too often we end up stuck at our current income level because we measure our worth according to it. Make a commitment to a higher sense of financial value and see how much harder you push to reach it.

Third, stop giving yourself a way out. So many of us do this because we want a guarantee to fall back on. Giving a way out only guarantees one thing: That you will take it. It is human nature to follow the path of least resistance. Eighty percent of people who go to college never use their degree anyway. Therefore, let go of the illusion of security and learn to focus all of your energy on your goal.

Fourth, get rid of the ‘termites’ which are chipping away at your hope.

Did you know that termites do more damage than earthquakes and hurricanes and fires combined? Take inventory of how you spend your time, your money and your energy and get rid of anything which is not moving you towards the life that you desire. Don’t worry about what you may be giving up, you are making room for something better.

Finally, build a stronger passion under your goals. When it comes to getting what you want there is nothing which can empower you to fight on in the face of failure but an unwavering desire to win. Chances are that if you have given up too early it is not because you lacked the discipline or ambition; it is because your desire was not strong enough.

Once you understand that this is what has been holding you back, fast forward yen years and pretend that you never pursued your dreams. If you don’t like what you see do something about it today.

Building the Life You Have Been Waiting For – Three Personal Leadership Secrets

Stop and imagine something for a moment: Are you getting what you really want out of your life? Do you find that your decisions are motivated by the need to manage life’s circumstances or to build your own dreams? If you could really set aside the pressures of life and focus on living life on your terms where would you begin today? If you are truly ready to discover the answer to these questions these tips will give you the best place to start:

First, there is almost nothing which is more painful or humiliating than to live a life which is not meeting your expectations. Therefore, if your life is not meeting your expectations you must begin with examining your expectations for flaws. Too often we try to adjust our lives, not even considering the fact that we may be headed in the wrong direction.

Ask yourself these questions: “Are these expectations consistent with my personal values? If not, where did they come from? Are they consistent with the natural principles of nature? If not, how can I better fit them to get the principles of nature working for me instead of against me?”

Once this is done write out your plan.

So many people fail because they ignore this step. This is a HUGE mistake. Yes, you may know what you want in your mind. But there is something mysteriously powerful about committing our plan to paper. It awakens desires and creativity within you which are eerily supernatural. Forget about understanding why this works. Just try it and see for yourself. You will be astounded at the results.

Finally, persevere without wavering. Sure you may have heard this one but what you may not have heard is how to persevere. It requires understanding that when you are not getting results that you want you keep working in spite of it.

As long as your actions are consistent with natural principles and contributing something of value to the world you can be assured that they will bear fruit.

If you were to plant a seed in the ground and it were not to sprout within the first few weeks would you give up? Of course not. You understand that a plant is an organic life form which is subject to laws of nature which you have no control over. Treat your dreams the same way and learn to constantly put forth effort in both the times of abundance and the times of want.

This will ensure that you will always have something to reap for your efforts, it just may take some time to break the initial ground. So these into practice today, while the ideas are fresh in your mind and you will find that in time you can have what you really want.

Books that are too-the-point and not loaded up with vague concepts that aren’t actually helpful, and don’t just address issues without giving solid solutions for them.

I am writing a paper on how our self concept is derived from society, and the roles that we play. Then I am supposed to back it up with an example from my OWN life that shows this process.

I am using Mead’s theory of Stages to describe how self concept is derived. –>

(0-2yrs) The Imitation stage – infants learn to tell themselves from others (self conscious) by observing their parents

(4-7yrs) Play stage – play a variety of social roles and develop basic understanding of adult roles begin to see themselves how others see them (Cooley’s Looking-Glass Self)

(8+yrs) Game stage- structured activities, children incorporate and understand the pressures of society.

ANY IDEAS? I am having difficulty thinking of an experience that shows that process.
THANKS!
